The Role of Sports Education in Socialization, Inclusion, and Cultural Identity in India
Abstract
In India, sports education is more than just physical training; it is an essential social institution that shapes identity, conduct, and values. The sociological components of sports education are examined in this study, with a focus on how it promotes inclusivity, leadership, teamwork, socialisation, and character development. It also looks at how socioeconomic conditions, gender, caste, class, and regional differences affect fairness, access, and participation in sports education. The study takes into account how students' sports practices, attitudes, and goals are impacted by commercialisation, media exposure, and globalisation.
This study examines socialisation, identity development, inequality, and cultural impact using a qualitative method and secondary data sources, such as academic literature, policy papers, reports, and media material.
The findings emphasis the importance of sociologically informed teacher and coach training, inclusive curriculum, equal access, and legislative initiatives that link sports education with more general educational and social goals. A sociological perspective on sports education offers insights into fostering social mobility, holistic development, and national integration among Indian adolescents.
