Population is an important resource. population is the wealth of nation. Development of a region & nation is based on great extent of the population place very important role in the population provide basic resources to agriculture as well as industries in various forms there for this chapter is associated with various aspect of population in Barur village. The aim of present paper is to assess study the population characterstics in Barur village of South Solapur tahsil in Solapur district. The entire investigation is based on secondary sources of the data. The secondary data obtained from district census handbook, district Gazetteer, district Statistical department and socio- economic review, grampanchayat karyalaya and Talathi karyalaya of Barur village etc. Collected data is processed and presented in the forms of tabular and graphical. It is observed that, the growth rate of population in Barur village is 20.66 percent, 1991 to 2001 census. The density of population in Barur village is 363 persons per sq.km. in 2011 census. The total male literacy is 68 percent and sex ratio are 970 in Barur village. The children with age 0-6 are 462 which makes up 14.16 percent of total population of village. The Schedule Caste (SC) constitutes 14.71 % while Schedule Tribe (ST) were 2.05 % of total population in Barur village.
