Agricultural Transformation for Sustainable Development in India: Challenges, Innovations, and Policy Imperatives
Keywords:
Sustainable Development, Agriculture, IndiaAbstract
This paper explores the multifaceted concept of agricultural transformation within the context of sustainable development in India. It examines how a shift from subsistence-level farming to a more market-oriented, technologically advanced, and ecologically conscious agricultural system can address the pressing issues of food security, rural poverty, and environmental degradation. The study analyzes key drivers of this transformation, including technological innovations (e.g., precision agriculture, biotechnology), policy reforms (e.g., market access, subsidies), and institutional frameworks. It also highlights the persistent challenges, such as climate change impacts, small landholdings, and a lack of access to credit and technology for marginal farmers. The paper concludes with policy recommendations aimed at fostering an inclusive and sustainable agricultural future for India.
