A STUDY OF DIGITAL ADDICTION AND PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS

Abstract

In the contemporary digital era, the excessive use of digital devices such as smartphones, social media platforms, online games, and the internet has led to a growing psychological concern known as digital addiction. Digital addiction refers to the compulsive and uncontrolled use of digital technology that interferes with daily functioning and mental well-being. The present study is theoretical in nature and aims to examine the relationship between digital addiction and psychological problems based on secondary data. The study is based on a comprehensive review of existing literature, including research articles, books, reports, and theoretical models related to digital behavior and mental health. The reviewed literature reveals that excessive digital use is significantly associated with various psychological problems such as anxiety, depression, stress, sleep disturbances, attention problems, and social isolation. The study highlights the importance of balanced digital usage and psychological awareness to prevent mental health issues arising from digital addiction.
