INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL MOTIVATION AND REGIONAL BACKGROUND ON WELL-BEING AMONG YOUNG ADULTS

Research Background: Social motivation and regional background are important psychological and social factors that influence the well-being of young adults. Social motivation reflects an individual’s drive to engage with others and achieve social goals, which plays a crucial role in maintaining psychological health. Similarly, regional background, provides varying social environments that may affect well-being. Therefore, the present study aims to examine the impact of social motivation and regional background on the level of well-being among young adults. Objectives: The primary objective of the study was to examine the effect of social motivation) on the well-being of young adults. Another objective was to study the effect of regional background on the well-being of young adults. Further, the study aimed to examine the significant interaction effect between social motivation and regional background on the well-being of young adults. Procedure: In the present study, one hundred sixty young adults were selected from society using a purposive sampling technique. Social motivation and regional background were independent variables, and well-being was the dependent variable. The Social Motives Scale developed by R. N. Singh and Mahesh Bhargava and the Well-Being Index developed by V. L. Chauhan and Varsha Sharma (2016) were used. Conclusions: The findings revealed that social motive has a significant impact on the level of well-being among young adults. High social motivation demonstrating a higher level of well-being than those with low social motivation. However, regional background did not significantly influence the level of well-being. Furthermore, no significant interaction effect was found between social motivation and regional background on the well-being of young adults.
