Abstract

Environmental economics is a branch of economics that focuses on the relationship between the economy and the environment. It seeks to understand how economic activities impact the environment and how economic policies can be designed to address environmental problems efficiently. Environmental economics is about understanding the cost-effective application, design, and management of the world's natural resources and living systems. Green economics focuses on sustainable development, environmental protection, and social equity. It aims to create a circular economy that benefits both people and the planet. Green economics is an approach to economics that seeks to balance economic growth with environmental sustainability and social well-being. It focuses on creating an economy that values natural resources, reduces pollution, and promotes equitable distribution of wealth — ensuring prosperity for both people and the planet. The concepts of sustainability, environment, and green economics are deeply interconnected — they all aim to balance human development with ecological preservation. Together, they form the foundation of a future where economic growth, environmental protection, and social well-being can coexist harmoniously. Objectives of my research study are to study the Concept of environmental sustainability, to study the Concept of Green Economics, to study Relation between environmental sustainability and Green Economics, to study scope of environmental economics, to highlight the green initiatives taken in India. Present research study will depend upon secondary data. My Research paper conclude that green economics represents a shift from traditional, profit-centred growth to a more holistic and sustainable model that integrates the economy, society, and environment. For a country like India — with its large population and growing economy — adopting green economics is essential to ensure inclusive development that preserves natural resources for future generations.
