Abstract

Agricultural transformation is widely recognized as a fundamental driver of rural development in developing economies, particularly in agrarian societies like India. This paper examines the dynamic relationship between agricultural transformation and rural development, emphasizing how structural changes in agriculture contribute to income growth, employment generation, poverty reduction, and social development in rural areas. The study adopts a conceptual and analytical approach, drawing upon theoretical perspectives and empirical evidence from existing literature. It argues that sustainable rural development cannot be achieved without comprehensive agricultural transformation encompassing technological innovation, institutional reforms, diversification of livelihoods, and inclusive policy frameworks. The paper concludes that an integrated approach linking agriculture with non-farm rural activities is essential for achieving equitable and sustainable development.
