THE SIGNIFICANCE OF SOCIAL WORK IN ATTAINING WORK-LIFE BALANCE: A MULTI-LEVEL ANALYSIS
Keywords:
WLB, Social work m psychological well beingAbstract
The Evolving Role of Social Work in Work-Life Balance (WLB) is no longer just about dividing time between work and personal life; it's a deep, psychological state reflecting satisfaction across both professional and personal areas. This paper argues that social work is critically important for achieving WLB. The profession's distinctive focus on the "person-in-environment" and its multi-level intervention strategies are vital for creating long-lasting work-life integration.
Social work contributes in the ways like Micro-level (Individual): Building essential skills like boundary setting and promoting self-care. Mezzo-level (Organizational): Advocating for change within organizations, such as developing Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and fostering supportive workplace cultures. Macro-level (Policy): Driving broader policy reform.
A cornerstone of social work, social support, is key. It acts as a significant mediator, translating external resources into improved psychological well-being, which in turn leads to successful and positive WLB outcomes.
